In this deck, 4 of disks carries a rather simplified name - Materialism. It presents neatly organized set of disks, one of them having a special shine. The disks seem to float in the middle of a deep, foggy forest.
Materialism is in fact a philosophical doctrine where matter is the fundamental substance and everything, even consciousness, arises from its interactions. Giving such a name to the 4 of disks has some significance since 4 of disks is a very grounded card, it belongs to the suit of pentacles or disks which are of the earth element and the number 4 gives it even a deeper structure and organization. Number 4 is a number of completion and great stability that we have achieved after the period of growth which was represented by the number 3.
The card is a great reminder of the need to be firmly rooted and centred in the material world that is in the body. The body is the gate towards all other realms since our physical existence in-carnates our potentials. In-carnate literally means 'put into meat', into the body that is our vehicle on this planet. The body carries the spirit, it carries our karma, our memories, our experiences...they are all stored in the body. Body and mind are one unity, the body being the condensed version, and the mind the subtle one.
The message of the 4 of pentacles is to take care of our physical structure and honour it. Astrologically, this is Sun in Capricorn card, the cardinal earth sign, giving us responsibility to establish ourselves in the world, find our proper position and maintain it. Maintaining is a very distinctive characteristic of the earth element - its shadow side manifests as becoming fixed and rigid and not being able to let go of the elements that have already lost their meaning.
4 of pentacles is about our inner, personal storage house - all that we have gathered, experienced that we have gained that now give us authority and power to live according to our own system and rules. It is a very material house - since it accumulates and holds and is very aware of the physical realities of the world we need to live and function in. It gives us bones, spine, structure - but also rigidity that can start to yield and break when the change is necessary.
How to take care of our inner storage house? By honouring our own power and integrity while still leaving the doors open for new experiences and changes. Enjoy your body, enjoy your money, enjoy your health - and pay attention: the doors to divine start opening by themselves.
